We host seasonal events open to the public and have permanent facilities including a celebration silo, bounce pillow, covered picnic area, sand pit, and gaga ball arena. Seasonal activities may include a hay maze, hay ride, hay hop, petting zoo, pumpkin patch, scarecrow contest, wildflowers, and more!

THE HEART OF TEXAS COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM
Take a musical journey through country music's past
The Heart of Texas Country Music Museum is a musical journey that traces the history of not only Texas Country Music, but the entire Country Music Industry.
Over 100 artists are represented in the museum with stage costumes, musical instruments, autographs, posters and other memorabilia highlighting Country Music's colorful past.
Make plans and join us in Brady for 2 annual music festivals hosted by the Country Music Museum, The Heart of Texas Country Music Festival and the Honky Tonk Fest.

Once called the "best small museum in Texas" by the Fort Worth Star Telegram
the museum is housed in the former McCulloch County Jail . The three-story structure was constructed in 1910 and served as the county's correctional facility until 1974 when it was deeded to the historical society as a museum.
Recently the Curtis Field Control Tower, which was located at Curtis Field during WWII , was donated to the museum, restored and dedicated to the 10,000 men and women who trained there and to veterans of all branches of military service from McCulloch County. The museum houses many artifacts from McCulloch county, military memorabilia and uniforms, along with flight books and hosts one of the largest model airplane engine collections in the world.
LOCAL GEMS
GENERAL JAMES EARL RUDDER STATUE
Located at the McCulloch County Court House stands the state in honor of James Earl Rudder. He served as a United States Army General in World War ll, earning honors such as the Distinguished Service Cross, and the Purple Heart amongst others. Upon return, he then served as the City of Brady's mayor from 1946-1952. On the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, the James Earl Rudder Statue made its debut on the McCulloch County Courthouse lawn. The City of Brady and the Heart of Texas Historical museum worked with artist Troy Kelley to erect the statue in honor of Rudder-there is a bottle of sand from Normandy Beach in the base of the statue. 199 County Courthouse Square, Brady, TX
SOLDIER'S WATERHOLE
A historical marker seven miles east of Brady notes where US soldiers rested while traveling the nearby military road and patrolling for Indians during the Civil War. One particularly gruesome evening, 27 Indians surprised and massacred 18 men, women, and children. Also, they burned their wagons, and stole their horses. The marker is located at US Highway 190 and County Road 412 with the actual site two and one-half miles off the paved road.
THE GEOGRAPHIC CENTER OF TEXAS
Located in McCulloch County, outside of Brady you will find the geographic center of Texas. Although the exact location sits on private land, a marker containing tourist information stands on Highway 377, five miles from the actual geographical center. Walk up the watch tower to see a spectacular sight of the center of Texas!
WALDRIP BRIDGE
Located at the end of a one-lane, county dirt road between McCulloch and Coleman County, is the Waldrip Bridge. The original structure was destroyed by a flood in 1906 and rebuilt in 1911. 25 years later in 1936 it was yet again, destroyed by a flood.
In the past, Waldrip Bridge was one of the few main crossing points along the Colorado in the region. In more recent times, the bridge was closed for several years, but reopened in 2011 after much needed restoration.
HEART OF TEXAS MONUMENT
Located at the Historic Courthouse on the Downtown Square of Brady is the Heart of Texas Monument. In 1963 the Texas Historical Commission designated McCulloch County the geographical center of Texas as being located 5 miles northwest of Brady. On the grounds of the courthouse this 7' 6" Heart of Texas granite marker, designed by Earl V. Finlay is the perfect backdrop to document your trip in the True Heart of Texas with a little photo opportunity!
